Expenses including those associated with operator dwellings—are forecast to increase by $18.2 billion (4.1 percent) from 2022 to reach $459.5 billion in calendar year 2023. Fertilizer-lime-soil conditioner expenses, the second largest category, are forecast to have reached a record high in 2022 at $42.5 billion. They are expected to remain high at $42.2 billion in 2023, decreasing by $0.3 billion (or 0.8 percent) as compared with 2022.
