During the inflorescence phase, a prolonged duration of elevated temperatures, in the range of 84- 86ºF (28-30ºC), inhibits flower induction in strawberry varieties. Likewise, it has been observed that high temperatures decrease both the size and weight of the fruits in strawberries creating the environment for rejections by buyers and consumers.
Furthermore, the stress caused by high temperatures has a negative impact on the reproductive process of strawberries, and the reaction of plants to said stress is linked to the variety in question.
