Chilling Hours Requirements and Strategies for Growing Blackberries in Mountainous Regions

Blackberries are cultivated using low-temperature requirement varieties, including 'Brazos', 'Tupy' and 'Kiowa', as well as 'Comanche' and 'Cherokee'. These cultivars require 150 to 600 chilling hours, with temperatures below 7°C. In mountainous regions, where strong winds prevail, it is crucial to select more resilient varieties and plant orientation strategies that minimize damage from cold wind blasts.
